Alston Loftworks is the creative den of artist and craftsman Ian McAneneny - a lifelong resident of Alston. The town is unique... located in the heart of the North Pennines - one of England's most beautiful places - and is home to some of the UK's most creative people.
Highly skilled at wood-turning and acrylic moulding, using mostly traditional tools and methods, Ian creates objects that have practical uses, and unique artistic flair. Each piece is unique - there will only ever be one of them.

Most pieces take hours - sometimes days - to create. Using local landscapes, ideas and inspirations, Ian meticulously develops each piece to reflect the long history and heritage of the North Pennines region. The rich history of Alston and the Eden district of Cumbria goes back many thousands of years. By the time the Romans arrived nearly 2000 years ago, Alston was already a centre of agriculture, industry, mining and manufacturing - and has been so for nearly 5000 years.
Today, Ian continues the centuries of creative and artistic traditions, creating unique objects for the world to cherish and enjoy.
